Keep It In The Family
🔍BOOK REVIEW🔍
✍🏻 John Marrs is a London and Northamptonshire - based author. A former journalist who used to interview celebrities from the television, film, and music industry. His books include the no. 1 bestseller and Netflix series - The One, The Passengers, award-winning What Lies Between Us and The Good Samaritan.
As this was the first book I read by him, there will be no point of reference amongst his novels on this review.
✅Things I like about the novel:
🩸The Muitple Narrator POV has always been a win for me. It challenges my comprehension skills even if the plot has a lot of Then & Nows, back and forth, twists and turns.
🩸 The characters are fascinating and they were established very well.
🩸 It has propelled me to uncover each missing piece even if I have already some suspicions from about the half percent mark.
🩸 Unputdownable.
🚫 Things about the book that didn't work for me:
🤔 Lots of details and occasion s that I would suspend my disbelief in order to reach the end and find out about the truth.
🤔 I don't like rushed endings but on this one, it was just prolonged unfairly. That's how I felt.
🤔 I wasn't sure how I figured out but I was able to tell who has really done it just after a few chapters no matter how unreliable the narrator was. John didn't succeed in misleading me.
⚠️ If you are sensitive about triggers like child abuse and chronic illnesses, this is not for you.
P.S. I would have been nice if DC Mark and Mia had ended up together. ☺️🤫
