Final Girls by Riley Sager

Book review on Riley Sager’s Final Girls, rated 4 stars

Genre: Psychological Suspense

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

It’s not Riley’s fault. It’s not him, it’s me. The only reason I knocked off a star was because I predicted who the mass murderer was, which took place at the Pinewood Cottage. I admire the ‘final’ girl’s character and determination to continue with her life after that gruesome incident.

On the other hand, Sager’s decision to make Quincy suffer from temporary memory loss was a clever move! The plot went on without disclosing too much information because one of the survivors couldn’t even remember the pertinent information the investigating team needed from her.

Of course, I had to suspend my disbelief, as how I normally would until the end to confirm whether or not I was right with my speculation. Final Girls was much better than The House Across The Lake but has not defeated The Only One Left in my humble opinion.

“Baking is a science, as rigorous as chemistry or physics. There are rules that must be followed. Too much of one thing and not enough of another can lead to ruin. I find comfort in this. Outside, the world is an unruly place where men prowl with sharpened knives. In baking, there is only order.”

“I make no attempts to disguise my scars. I just pretend they don’t exist.”

“You can’t change what’s happened. The only thing you can control is how you deal with it.”
