Lisa Jewell

Book Review

I really believe in the saying “not all books will be every reader’s cup of tea”. This is the second Lisa Jewell book I read and hmmm…it was just okay-ish. I managed to pull through even if I found it a little slow and I was not able to connect with any of the characters. I felt like they were just passersby and didn’t leave an impact which is essential in fleshing out both main and supporting roles.

If you’re looking for a roller coaster ride effect in this book, I hate to burst your bubble, but it’s just mystery/suspense and not a thriller. I just missed the connection plus the fact that it was too long and a lot of incidents were just swept under the rug. As far as endings are concerned, this one is not remarkable.

This is another ‘it’s-me-and-not-the-author’s’ fault kind of book (as much as I’d like to think). After all, I am not the only reader Jewell has. Again, not because it did not click with me doesn’t mean it won’t with you. To each his own, IMHO.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐/5
